Valentin is a driven and determined German college student who first started his home gym in 2019. Prior to that, he had signed up for a gym membership in 2018 and worked out with a friend.

Unfortunately, when his friend quit, Valentin found his workouts became unproductive and he barely made any progress. He disliked the sterile atmosphere of a commercial gym where rules and regulations stifled his workout routine.

Luckily, a friend who was a strongman competitor motivated Valentin to get more serious about strength training, which led him to build his first bare-bones version of his home gym in his bedroom at his parents’ house.

He started with a $550 budget Home Gym: Mirafit squat stand and flat bench, an ATX weightlifting training bar, bumper plates, and some cast iron change plates.

With this simple setup and basic beginner training routine, Valentin made great progress and enjoyed the freedom of training without having to follow commercial gym rules.

Valentin soon outgrew his weights, so he began purchasing more bumper plates. In 2020, he moved out and relocated his home gym to his living room, giving him more space.

Eventually, he purchased an EZ curl bar and began incorporating strongman exercises into his routine. As he found it nearly impossible to get exercise equipment for reasonable prices during that time, he decided to make his own designs based upon equipment he had trained with and altered things he didn’t like.

Luckily, a good friend of his is a fabricator, and he built Valentin’s equipment, starting out with farmer’s walk implements and an axle bar.

Over time, Valentin continued to accumulate more equipment while making progress, expanding his gym until he experienced some significant injuries from rugby, ultimately leading to him giving up the sport.

After recovering, he focused more on weight training and got into weightlifting through a friend from rugby, which has been his focus ever since.

After a year in weightlifting, Valentin became interested in speciality bars again, wanting to try around with some more unconventional assistance exercises for weightlifting. He was especially interested in safety squat bars and had tried out a few of the major brands.

However, the only one that really fit his wants (EliteFTS SS Yoke Bar) was not available for a reasonable price in Germany.

As Valentin had some other ideas for specialty bars and a yoke/rack, he came up with his own design and had his friend build them for him again, this is truly epic!!

He then sold the old squat stand to make room, getting him to his current setup.
